Scholarship Empowers Student To Become Female Leader In STEM
Jalease Lofton | University of Arkansas - Fort Smith

When Fort Smith native Jalease Lofton learned that 70% of students drop out of STEM majors, she didn’t blink. Instead, she thought of her high school teacher who was a role model in the field of mathematics, and also a female leader in STEM.

Receiving the Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship helped Jalease pay for books and tuition at the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith. More importantly, the scholarship provided her with the financial support to keep her encouraged and motivated.

“One day I’m going to be a statistics teacher,” says Jalease. “I want to be a role model for other women around the world.”

That you are, Jalease! #ThisIsWinning
