Winner Round-Up: Arkansas Lottery Players Land Big Wins
Five Arkansas lottery players recently claimed big instant prizes at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center.
Wanda B. from Paris won a $350,000 top prize on the $350,000 Jackpot scratch-off ticket. She purchased the $20 winning ticket at Circle S. Food Store - Paris, located at 203 E. Walnut in Paris, and collected her prize on Aug. 29.
Wanda, a daily lottery player, bought $50 worth of scratch-off tickets in hopes of extending the small winning streak she had built with $350,000 Jackpot. Lucky for her, Wanda did more than that: she landed a $350,000 top prize. Excited, she rushed to share the good news with her family.
“Sit down, because you’re not going to believe me when I tell you,” she told her niece.
Despite initially believing she was playing a prank, Wanda’s niece congratulated her on the win.
“Now you’re really retired,” she said.
Two top prizes worth $350,000 each remain on $350,000 Jackpot.
A second winner, Linda A. from Drew County, won $100,000 playing the $5 X50 High Roller instant game. She claimed her prize on Sept. 2.
Linda purchased the winning ticket at Murphy USA 7837, located at 5601 S. Olive St. in Pine Bluff. Although her husband usually buys lottery tickets more often, Linda decided that she would try her own luck with the X50 High Roller instant game. She scratched it off in her car and, to her astonishment, realized she had won a $100,000 top prize.
“I saw the 100 first and thought I only won $100,” Linda said. “Then I kept scratching and saw the rest of the zeros!”
Linda plans to build a workshop with her prize. The couple also plans to continue playing lottery games; Linda’s husband in particular has his eyes set on the soaring Powerball jackpot.
“I’m aiming for the billion,” he told lottery officials.
Two $100,000 top prizes remain on X50 High Roller.
A third winner, Washington County resident Maria S., won $50,000 playing $50,000 Frenzy. She claimed her prize on Aug. 29.
Maria purchased her $20 winning ticket from Walmart Market #4375, located at 4900 Jennifer Terrace in Springdale. She assumed it was an ordinary scratch-off—until she discovered it held a $50,000 top prize. In disbelief, she shared the news with her son, who echoed the sentiment.
“I thought someone was pranking her,” Maria’s son told lottery officials.
Fortunately, Maria had indeed won the $50,000 prize. She has yet to decide how she’ll use her winnings.
Thirty-two top prizes worth $50,000 each remain on $50,000 Frenzy.
The lottery luck extended beyond instant tickets. This week, two Arkansas lottery players also claimed big prizes from Powerball®, a multi-state draw game.
A Saline County player won $150,000 in the Sept. 1 Powerball drawing. The winning ticket was purchased at Circle K Store 2709963, located at 2400 Springhill Road in Bryant, and the winning numbers were 8, 23, 24, 40 and 53. The Powerball number was 5, and the Power Play® multiplier was 3.
Another Powerball player, a Lafayette County resident, claimed a $50,000 prize on Sept. 2. The winning ticket was sold at M & M Quik Stop #2, located at 1406 Spruce St. in Lewisville, for the Aug. 27 drawing. The winning numbers were 9, 12, 22, 41 and 61. The Powerball number was 25, and the Power Play® multiplier was 4.
The Powerball jackpot has been raised to $1.4 billion for tonight’s drawing.
