Two Arkansans Win $10,000 Each on $10 Scratch-Off; More Than 100 Top Prizes Remain on New $10,000 Winnings Ticket

Little Rock, Ark.

Two Arkansans ring in big wins with a recently launched $10 instant ticket.

Almyra resident Carlena Buerkle won $10,000 playing $10,000 Winnings. She claimed her prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center on Aug. 8.

The winning ticket was sold at Stuttgart C-Stop, located at 408 East 22nd St. in Stuttgart.

Long-time lottery player, Buerkle said buying a new instant ticket is part of her regular grocery routine. During a recent grocery run, the vibrant pink color of the new $10,000 Winnings ticket grabbed her attention. The Almyra woman decided to try her luck with the instant game, and although she doubted she would land a big prize, she kept her hopes high.

Scratching the ticket at home, Buerkle discovered the top prize on the very first row.

“I was just over the moon,” Buerkle told lottery officials. “My first thought was, ‘Wow!’”

Ecstatic, she rushed to share the good news with her husband.

“Guess what I just won?” she exclaimed.

“Yeah, right,” he responded in disbelief.

With her winnings Buerkle plans to pay off and eventually sell her camper. She encourages other players to keep a positive mindset—their big win may be just around the corner.

That same day, Jerry Frinzell Jr. of Rogers, also claimed a $10,000 top prize on $10,000 Winnings. He purchased the winning ticket at Walmart Fuel Center #5260, located at 4206 S. Pleasant Cross in Rogers.

Frinzell, a weekly lottery player, says he has developed a personal winning strategy: buying two tickets at a time, hoping for back-to-back winners.

“I win a lot—just normally under $500,” he said.

Lucky for Frinzell, he would soon land his biggest dual prize yet. Using the $130 he had won the day before, Frinzell bought two more tickets. The first held a $20 prize but the second revealed the $10,000 top prize.

“I’m a winner!” he thought.

So far, he has only shared the good news with his work buddy and a few others. With his prize, the lucky winner plans to visit Ruth’s Chris Steak House and buy new tires for his truck.

One hundred and forty-eight top prizes worth $10,000 each remain on $10,000 Winnings.
