Russellville Couple Wins $50,000 with Valentine’s Day Ticket

Little Rock, Ark.

A sweet Valentine’s Day gift turned into a massive prize for one Russellville couple.

David and Gail A. won $50,000 playing $50,000 Frenzy, a $20 scratch-off game. They claimed their prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL) Claim Center on Feb. 24.

The winning ticket was purchased at Tobacco Row, 200 E. 4th St. in Russellville.

David bought the winning ticket for his wife, Gail, as a Valentine’s Day gift. He plays lottery games once or twice weekly and occasionally purchases extra tickets for Gail. Because she had to work on the holiday, David decided to surprise her with something fun—a $50,000 Frenzy instant ticket.

Gail scratched the ticket at home.

“I saw a 20X symbol, and I thought, ‘Oh!’” Gail told lottery officials.

The Russellville woman uncovered another 20X symbol and a $10,000 instant win symbol before passing the ticket to her husband.

“You’d better look at this,” she said.

David gasped—Gail had won $50,000!

“Is this a trick ticket?” she asked him. “Are you playing a joke on me?”

After David assured her the ticket was real, the pair rushed to another local retailer to confirm the win. Sure enough, Gail had indeed won the instant game’s $50,000 top prize. The store clerk told the couple they must visit the ASL Claim Center in Little Rock to claim their winnings.

Overjoyed, Gail and David announced their win to others in the store and were met with celebratory cheers.

“It definitely was a memorable Valentine’s Day,” they said.

The Russellville couple has since shared the good news with a few family members. They plan to save their winnings.

Sixty-nine top prizes worth $50,000 each remain on $50,000 Frenzy.
