Pulaski County Man Claims $460,000 Natural State Jackpot; Dermott Man Wins $25,000 Playing LOTTO
Two lucky lottery players recently claimed big prizes at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL) Claim Center.
Pulaski County resident Keith S. won $460,000 in the Dec. 22 Natural State Jackpot (NSJ) drawing and claimed his prize on Jan. 28.
The winning Quick Pick ticket was purchased at Casey’s #4680 at 8903 White Oak Crossing in Maumelle. The winning numbers were 16, 26, 30, 31 and 33.
Keith plays the lottery daily and buys tickets from around the state. He “plays to win,” preferring in-state games for better odds.
The Arkansan discovered his jackpot win one week after the drawing at a local lottery retailer. He scanned his ticket and was surprised when the ticket checker displayed a special message indicating that he had won more than $500.
“I didn’t say anything to anyone,” Keith told lottery officials. “I went home to check my numbers on the lottery’s website.”
Sure enough, he had won a $460,000 Natural State Jackpot. Keith’s wife was sleeping peacefully when he decided to tell her the good news.
“Did we really just win $460,000?” she exclaimed.
The lucky winner plans to save for retirement, invest and share some of his wealth with his children.
The NSJ jackpot is $390,000 for tonight’s drawing.
Davis Smith of Dermott won $25,000 in the Jan. 25 LOTTO drawing and claimed his prize on Jan. 28. He purchased the winning Quick Pick ticket at Cash’s #4472 at 100 Highway 65N in McGehee.
The winning numbers were 1, 4, 10, 20, 23 and 34. The Bonus Number was 17.
Davis plays LOTTO weekly and is happy that the draw game is played and won exclusively in Arkansas. Occasionally, his coworkers like to play jokes on him about buying lottery tickets.
The Dermott man has grown so accustomed to the coworkers’ jokes that, when his boss announced that two winning LOTTO tickets worth $25,000 were sold in Perryville and McGehee, Davis refused to believe him.
“I told him, ‘You’re getting really good at this!’” Davis said.
Still, the Dermott man decided to check his numbers. The clerk scanned his ticket and informed Davis that he would need to visit the ASL Claim Center to collect his prize.
“Sir, you are going to have to take this to Little Rock,” the clerk said.
Even then, Davis thought his prize would only be $1,500. It was only when he arrived at the ASL Claim Center that he learned he had won LOTTO’s $25,000 second-tier prize.
The Dermott man plans to pay off his truck and tractor with his winnings. He also intends to buy his son a better vehicle.
The LOTTO jackpot for Saturday night’s drawing is $5.123 million.
