Prairie County Man Wins $500,000 Lottery Prize; Mega Millions Rises to $740 Million
One Arkansan stopped by a local convenience store for a snack and walked home with a massive lottery prize.
Prairie County resident Oliver J. recently won $500,000 playing 200X the Win, a $20 instant game. He claimed his prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL) Claim Center on Dec. 12.
The winning ticket was purchased at Wa Wa Mart, 7515 Baseline Road in Little Rock.
Oliver stopped by the convenience store for a snack and a drink as part of his daily routine. As a regular lottery player who prefers scratch-off games, the Prairie County man also decided to try his luck with a 200X the Win ticket.
While still in the store, he scratched his ticket, intending to go to the barbershop and run other errands afterward. However, what Oliver saw on his ticket stopped him in his tracks: he had won the instant game’s $500,000 top prize.
Staying calm, cool and collected, the Prairie County resident showed the ticket to his brother, who also resolved to manage his emotions.
“I didn’t get too excited,” Oliver’s brother told lottery officials. “I wanted confirmation.”
Instead of completing other errands, the pair headed directly to the ASL Claim Center to verify that Oliver had indeed won $500,000.
“I feel good!” the lucky winner shared.
Oliver currently has yet to make plans for his winnings.
