Powerball Jackpot Continues to Grow: $1.2 Billion Up for Grabs in Tonight’s Drawing

Little Rock, AR

The Powerball® jackpot now mirrors the amount of money the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL) has raised for scholarships at $1.2 billion. It is still the game’s second largest prize ever behind the world-record $1.586 billion jackpot in 2016 and is now the fourth largest lottery jackpot ever.

The winning numbers in Monday night’s drawing were 13, 19, 36, 39 and 59. The Powerball number was 13. There were 25,551 winning Powerball tickets sold in Arkansas totaling $251,451 with 14,194 winners who multiplied their winnings by purchasing the $1 Power Play®. Thirteen people from around the country won $1 million or more.

This is only the third time in Powerball’s 30-year history that the advertised jackpot has been $1 billion or more. The estimated cash value for tonight’s jackpot is $596.7 million.

Eric Hagler, ASL executive director, said players have the same odds in every drawing regardless of the jackpot amount or how many tickets are sold for a particular drawing.

“A player’s selection method does not affect the probability of matching the winning numbers drawn,” Hagler said. “There are more winners from Quick Picks because most purchases are by Quick Pick.”

Hagler also reminded players that Powerball, like all lottery games, is supposed to be fun. The game was designed to deliver big jackpots as a fun and entertaining product for adults. A person must be 18 years of age or older to play.
