Poinsett and Pulaski County Players Claim $50,000 Powerball Prizes

Little Rock, Ark.

Whether by intentional strategy or an unexpected stroke of luck, Arkansas lottery players won big prizes in recent Powerball® drawings.

Stephen C. of Poinsett County won $50,000 in the July 4 drawing. He claimed his prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center on July 7.

The winning ticket was purchased at Jordan’s Kwik Stop 9, 900 E. Jackson in Harrisburg. The winning numbers were 17, 38, 46, 50 and 69, and the Powerball number was 20. The Power Play® multiplier was 2.

“I didn’t expect it,” Stephen told lottery officials about the win.

A loyal Powerball player, Stephen buys tickets three times a week and chooses numbers he thinks could have a high chance of winning. Winning numbers are selected randomly during Powerball drawings, and no number is more likely to win than another. However, Stephen found a lucky combination, matching four out of five winning numbers and the Powerball number to land a $50,000 prize.

Stephen discovered the win after work, when he stopped at the retailer for gas and checked his ticket. When the clerk was unsure of Stephen’s prize amount, she informed him that a winning ticket had been sold in Harrisburg, and he could be the lucky winner.

Stephen confirmed the win after checking his numbers at home. He first shared the good news with his wife, who let out an excited scream in response.

Stephen plans to remodel his home with his winnings.

Another winner, Pulaski County resident George G., won $50,000 in the June 17 Powerball drawing. He claimed his prize on June 29.

The winning ticket was sold at Speedway Store 3905, located at 2900 N. Washington St. in Forrest City. The winning numbers were 3, 26, 49, 53 and 61. The Powerball number was 12, and the Power Play multiplier was 2.

For George, the big win was a welcome surprise after an overwhelming night. Between caring for a sick dog and other personal concerns, a nearly two-week-old lottery ticket was the last thing on his mind.

“I wasn’t thinking, ‘Let me win the lottery,’” George confessed. “I was only hoping for a good night’s sleep and help for today.”

While on vacation with his daughter, George bought the winning Quick Pick ticket but forgot about it. Later, during a truck cleaning, he found the ticket again and took it to a nearby gas station. After scanning the barcode, he was told to collect his prize at the ASL Claim Center. Neither George nor the clerk knew the amount of his winnings.

“I found out when I got to the claim center,” he said. “I had to put my glasses on when they told me I had won $50,000!”

The lucky winner has yet to make plans for his prize, but he does intend to continue playing lottery games for fun. He believes that, no matter what, the outcome is still positive. He gives prizes of any size to his daughter, and his non-winning tickets still support student scholarships in Arkansas.

“I’m going to be a winner either way,” George said.

The Powerball jackpot is $434 million for tonight’s drawing.
