Mena Man Claims $100,000 Powerball Prize

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.

One lucky Arkansan recently claimed a big Powerball® prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center.

David W. of Mena won $100,000 in the Oct. 5 Powerball drawing. He claimed his prize on Oct. 25.

The winning ticket was purchased at Exxon Superstation #2 at 901 Highway 71 N. in Mena. The winning numbers were 2, 12, 46, 52 and 65, and the Powerball number was 3. The Power Play® multiplier was 2.

David bought the winning ticket as part of his usual lottery playing routine.

“I might win $20,” he thought at the time.

The Mena resident never anticipated that he would win a significant prize. However, that same night, David discovered that he had matched four out of five winning numbers and the Powerball number, securing a $50,000 prize. Because he purchased his ticket with the Power Play option, his winnings doubled to $100,000.

“I immediately turned around and told my wife,” David shared with lottery officials. “We were just totally surprised.”

The lucky winner noted that he was just one number away from winning that night’s $302 million jackpot.

“I don’t even know how I would’ve reacted to that,” David laughed.

Still, the Mena man was excited about his winnings. He plans to consult his wife about what to do with his prize.

The Powerball jackpot is $28 million for tonight’s drawing.
