Maumelle Woman Wins $2,000,000 Powerball Prize; $250,000 Natural State Jackpot Ticket Sold in Little Rock
A Maumelle woman recently claimed a $2,000,000 Powerball® ticket at the Arkansas Lottery Scholarship (ASL) Claim Center in Little Rock. The winner, who elected to remain anonymous, purchased the winning ticket at Circle K Store 2709984, 8108 Counts Massie Road in Maumelle for the Dec. 13 drawing.
The winning numbers were 3, 8, 41, 46, and 64, with the Powerball being 18. The multiplier was two.
The woman, a frequent Powerball and Mega Millions® player, bought the winning ticket on a whim. She stopped by the service station after a routine grocery trip, purchasing $15 worth of lottery tickets and making sure to include the Power Play.® One of her daughters had offered the money to her earlier that day.
“I said I was going to win big,” she shared with lottery officials.
That night, the Maumelle woman slept with her tickets under her pillow—a strategy she employed on a previous winning ticket worth $100,000.
The next morning, she checked her ticket and knew she had won, but she was unsure of the amount.
The Arkansan first called her daughter, asking “How much is five numbers?” Her daughter shared that it may have been $100,000 or $1 million, not wanting to overwhelm her mother with the real amount until they met in person. She did tell her to sign the ticket immediately, though.
“I can’t believe this. Little old me,” the woman said. “Your new millionaire, right here in Arkansas.”
Overwhelmed and thankful, she called her other children to celebrate what she deemed “a miracle.”
With her prize, the woman will move out of her apartment and into a new home. She also intends to continue playing the lottery, with hopes of hitting a jackpot.
Retailers receive a 1 percent commission from the sale of winning lottery prizes. Circle K 2709984 will receive $20,000 from the sale of the winning Powerball ticket.
Another lucky Arkansan purchased a a winning $250,000 Natural State Jackpot ticket for last night’s drawing. The winning ticket was sold at Player’s Café in Little Rock. The winning numbers were 6, 16, 20, 25, and 29.
