Lottery “Power of a Dollar” Video Awarded Top Honors
When you spend a dollar on an Arkansas Scholarship Lottery ticket, the positive impact could go further than you imagined. This was the premise for the lottery’s “Power of a Dollar” TV commercial, which recently received the highest honors in the 16th annual Hermes Creative Awards and the 43rd annual Telly Awards. The video received a Platinum Hermes Award in the TV Ad category and a Gold Telly Award in the Local TV – Entertainment category.
The story follows the trajectory of a single dollar, found in the dryer, as it is used to purchase a $1 lottery ticket. The narrator reveals that the lottery ticket helped fund the education of a nurse, who helps save the life of a teacher, who then recovers and inspires a student in her class. The narrator explains that the lottery has raised more than $1 billion in proceeds for scholarships and invites the viewer to imagine what a dollar will do next.
The commercial emphasizes the central mission of the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery, which is to create winning people, winning futures and winning moments. Since 2009, the lottery has raised more than $1.1 billion in proceeds for scholarships. More than 675,000 college scholarships have been awarded to Arkansas students.
“The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery was started with the mission of helping Arkansas students realize their higher education goals,” said Eric Hagler, ASL executive director. “We have never deviated from that objective and are proud that more than 92 cents of every dollar raised through the sale of lottery tickets goes to scholarships, prizes, retailer commissions and other expenses.”
