Lottery’s Mega Millions Jackpot Hits $720 Million
The Mega Millions® jackpot has grown to $720 million for tonight’s drawing at 10 p.m. If the jackpot is hit, it would be the fifth-largest jackpot win in Mega Millions history. The last Mega Millions jackpot hit was for $20 million on April 18.
With more than 2,000 lottery retailers across the state, it’s convenient for players to pick up a ticket at a local store or on the Jackpocket app.
“With each draw that passes without a winner, the jackpot grows to even greater heights, captivating the imaginations of Arkansans across the state,” said Eric Hagler, Arkansas Scholarship Lottery executive director.
Hagler also stated players have the same odds in every drawing regardless of the jackpot amount or how many tickets are sold for a particular drawing.
“A player’s selection method does not affect the probability of matching the winning numbers drawn,” he added. “There are more winners from Quick Picks because most purchases are by Quick Pick.”
Jackpot winners may choose between an annuitized prize worth an estimated $720 million or a lump sum payment estimated at $370.5 million. Both prize options are before taxes. If the winner selects the annuity option, they will receive one immediate payment and annual payments that increase by 5% per year for 29 years.
The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 24. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 303 million.
Mega Millions tickets are $2 per play. A player can also get the Megaplier®, which multiplies any non-jackpot prizes won with an additional $1. Tickets are sold in 45 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Every Mega Millions ticket purchased in Arkansas is a win for the state since more money from draw tickets go towards scholarship proceeds.
