A Jonesboro woman recently won a $1 million lottery prize playing the $20 $1,000,000 Cash instant game. She claimed her prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center on Feb. 1. She has elected to remain anonymous.

The winning ticket was purchased at the woman’s favorite retail location: Kum & Go #390 on Southwest Drive in Jonesboro.

The Arkansan, who plays lottery games “all the time,” purchased the winning ticket on her day off. She stopped by Kum & Go to use the restroom and bought whichever ticket caught her eye.

“Not that I’m going to win anything,” she thought at the time.

The woman began scratching off her ticket while still in the store and, before revealing all the numbers, saw that she had won the $1 million top prize.

“When I hit that—y’all don’t even want to know my first thought,” the woman laughed.

Immediately after, the winner called her sister; she could only repeat her name a few times before announcing the big win. She also shared the news with her daughter and grandchildren.

“Do you love your grandma?” she asked them, grinning. “Well, you’re really going to love her now.”

The Jonesboro resident intends to pay off her truck, land and other expenses with her winnings as well as purchase a headstone for her son. She also plans to keep playing the lottery, but she insists she won’t quit her job any time soon.

“I’m not old enough to retire,” she said.

One top prize remains on the $1,000,000 Cash instant game.
