Craighead County Man Wins $50,000 with $20 Instant Ticket
For one Arkansas resident, a surprise lottery win was the key to accomplishing a longtime goal.
Jacob Yates of Craighead County won $50,000 playing $50,000 Frenzy, a $20 instant game. He claimed his prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center on Nov. 12.
The winning ticket was purchased at Jordan’s Kwik Stop #69, located at 4365 W. Keiser in Osceola.
Jacob bought the winning ticket shortly after work. A monthly lottery player, he had initially stopped by the retailer for gas when he decided to take a chance on an instant ticket. He had been monitoring the recent ticket releases and knew that $50,000 Frenzy still had several top prizes remaining.
Jacob usually purchases more than one lottery ticket at a time to increase his chances of winning a prize, and this time was no different. With four $50,000 Frenzy scratch-offs in tow, Jacob began scratching his tickets in the retailer’s parking lot.
To his surprise, one of the tickets held a $10,000 prize and two $20,000 prizes, for a grand total of $50,000.
“I thought I had only won $10,000 at first,” he told lottery officials.
Excited, he called his parents to share the good news. The pair was equally stunned, then congratulatory. The $50,000 prize will allow Jacob to finally relocate to be with his daughters.
Twenty-one $50,000 top prizes remain on $50,000 Frenzy.
