Bauxite Man Wins Big with Mega Millions; LOTTO Jackpot Rises to $4.814 Million
A change in routine landed one lucky Arkansan a big Mega Millions® prize.
Bauxite resident Guy C. won $10,000 in the Dec. 6 Mega Millions drawing. He claimed his prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center on Jan. 2.
The winning Quick Pick ticket was purchased at Bauxite Food Mart, 17000 W. Sardis Road. The winning numbers were 16, 21, 33, 39, and 45. The Mega Ball® number was 24, and the Megaplier® multiplier was 2.
Guy’s big win followed a change in his usual lottery-playing routine. Although he often chooses his numbers, the Bauxite resident decided to try computer-generated numbers for the Dec. 6 drawing. Lucky for Guy, his ticket matched four out of five winning numbers and the Mega Ball number, earning him a $10,000 prize.
“I couldn’t tell you how many times I checked it” he told lottery officials. “I thought, ‘Am I awake?’”
The lucky winner signed the back of his ticket and then sent a photo to his son. Although he first wondered if the ticket was real, Guy’s son quickly congratulated him.
“Buy yourself something nice,” the winner’s son suggested.
Guy may take his son’s advice, but first, he plans to pay bills with his winnings.
Tonight’s Mega Millions jackpot is $42 million.
For Arkansas lottery players, tomorrow night’s LOTTO jackpot rises to $4.814 million.
LOTTO tickets are available at licensed Arkansas lottery retailers and through retailer apps from ASL’s Play on the Go partners. Visit the Where To Play page on the ASL website to learn more about the Play on the Go options.
