Batesville Man Wins $50,000 Playing Instant Game

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.

Amidst last week’s snowy weather, one Arkansan celebrated his biggest lottery win yet.

Batesville resident Jacob Wood won $50,000 playing $50,000 Frenzy, a recently launched $20 instant ticket. He claimed his prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center on Jan. 14.

Jacob purchased the winning ticket last Wednesday during a trip to Hawgs Exxon, 1135 N. St. Louis in Batesville. After a player in front of him bought four $10 tickets, Jacob decided to try his luck with $50,000 Frenzy.

The Batesville resident scratched off his ticket in the parking lot and, to his shock, discovered he had won the game’s $50,000 top prize.

“I just kept looking at it,” Jacob told lottery officials. “My first thought was, ‘This isn’t real.’”

The lucky winner immediately called his father who was also stunned but remained skeptical until Jacob sent a photo of his ticket as proof. Since then, Jacob has also shared the good news with a few friends.

Jacob plans to pay off his house with his winnings. He also intends to continue playing lottery games, hoping to land an even bigger prize.

82 top prizes of $50,000 remain on the $50,000 Frenzy instant ticket.
