Arkansans Around the State Score Big Prizes with Scratch-Offs
Three lucky lottery players from around the state claimed massive prizes at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL) Claim Center on Friday.
“We want to congratulate all of last week’s big winners,” said ASL Executive Director Sharon Strong. “We’re especially proud to support these players, some of whom are saving for their children’s college education, as we continue to raise funds for student scholarships in Arkansas.”
A Grant County resident won $200,000 playing Ultimate Riches, a $10 instant game. He purchased the winning ticket at One Stop Food N Fuel, 11182 Highway 167 N. in Sheridan.
The lucky winner handed his wife the winning ticket as a surprise. She was initially skeptical. However, the woman’s disbelief turned into quiet shock when she realized he had won the $200,000 top prize.
“I just turned and looked at him,” the winner’s wife told lottery officials. “I lost my breath!”
The Grant County man is no stranger to winning big, though, and he encourages other Arkansans to continue playing lottery games. He plans to start a college fund for his grandchildren with his prize.
One $200,000 top prize remains on the Ultimate Riches instant game.
A second winner, Leon S. of Mississippi County, also won $200,000 playing the Multiplier Bonus instant game. He purchased the $10 ticket at PJ Express #1 at 311 South Airbase Highway in Blytheville.
Leon bought the winning ticket after some encouragement from his wife who “had a good feeling” about their chances. Leon selected a Multiplier Bonus ticket, drawn to the game’s multiplier feature. To his shock, the ticket held one of the game’s $200,000 top prizes.
Leon immediately shared the news with his wife.
“I was stunned! I really didn’t say anything, just looked at it,” she said.
Leon plans to save for his daughter’s college fund with his winnings. He and his wife also intend to continue playing lottery games.
One $200,000 top prize remains on the Multiplier Bonus instant game.
The third winner, Washington County resident Tanner C., won the $50,000 top prize on $50,000 Frenzy, a $20 instant game.
Tanner bought the winning ticket during a trip to Frederick’s One Stop, 103 N. Pittman in Prairie Grove. A regular scratch-off player, the Washington County resident usually buys his tickets in addition to some snacks and a drink, and Friday was no exception. This time, however, his ticket landed him the instant game’s $50,000 top prize.
Thrilled with his win, Tanner encourages other Arkansans to play.
“It doesn’t cost a lot, and it may turn into something crazy—like today,” he told lottery officials.
The Washington County man plans to save his winnings.
There are 81 top prizes worth $50,000 remaining on $50,000 Frenzy.
