Dermott Man Wins $50,000 Lottery Prize Playing Instant Game
Three instant tickets became one Arkansas lottery player’s luckiest purchase last week.
Dermott resident Ronnie G. won $50,000 playing $50,000 Frenzy, a $20 instant game. He claimed his prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center on March 7.
The winning ticket was sold at Jenkins Quick Chek, 1278 Highway 278 E. in Monticello.
Ronnie stopped by the retailer to purchase his weekly lottery tickets. Although the Dermott man does not have a favorite ticket, he always plays the same game until new tickets arrive. This time, that meant buying the last three $50,000 Frenzy tickets left in the retailer’s bin.
“Give me all of them,” Ronnie told the store clerk.
A self-described “patient person,” Ronnie waited until he was at home to scratch off his tickets. Even then, he set the games down on his kitchen table, cleaned his house and made a pot of coffee before playing.
Soon, however, Ronnie discovered he had won the game’s $50,000 top prize.
“I looked at it for about two days because it just wasn’t registering,” the Dermott man said.
Ronnie kept calm, but he was happy with his prize. So far, he has only shared the good news with family and plans to use his winnings to pay bills.
Sixty-six top prizes worth $50,000 each remain on $50,000 Frenzy.
