Malvern Woman Wins Big with Birthday Lottery Ticket; LOTTO Jackpot Soars to $4.208 Million

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.

One lucky Arkansan recently won a massive top prize with a gifted lottery ticket.

G. Smith of Malvern won $200,000 playing the $10 Triple Red 777 instant game. She claimed her prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center on Nov. 14.

The winning ticket was sold at Murphy USA 7635, 3162 Harrison St. in Batesville.

Smith’s son was shopping for his own lucky tickets when Triple Red 777 caught his eye. He occasionally buys extra tickets to give to family and friends, and, noting that his mother’s birthday was approaching, he decided to take a chance on the instant game.

“He’s a good son,” the Malvern woman told lottery officials. “He always takes care of me.”

Unbeknownst to the pair, the ticket held an even better gift than they suspected: a $200,000 top prize.

“I never dreamed it would be a big winner,” Smith’s son told lottery officials. His mother rarely played lottery games, and the biggest prize he had ever won was $500.

Excited, Smith has only told her immediate family members, whom she plans to help with her winnings.

Two $200,000 top prizes remain on the Triple Red 777 instant game.

The jackpot for LOTTO, an Arkansas exclusive draw game, rises to $4.208 million for Saturday night.

LOTTO drawings occur on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9 p.m. Six numbers between 1 and 40, plus a Bonus Number, are drawn. To win the jackpot, a LOTTO player must match the first six numbers drawn in any order. Alternate prizes up to $25,000 are available for players who match three or more winning numbers, with or without the Bonus Number.

LOTTO tickets cost $2 per play, and ticket sales cut off at 8:59 p.m. the night of the drawing.
