Pine Bluff Woman Claims $100,000 Powerball Prize; Winning Natural State Jackpot Ticket Worth $480,000 Sold in Beebe

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.

The end of August brings big wins for two lucky Arkansas lottery players.

Melva Trask of Pine Bluff recently won $100,000 in the August 14 Powerball® drawing. She claimed her prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL) Claim Center on August 28.

The winning ticket was sold at Olive Market & Deli, 2202 S. Olive St. in Pine Bluff. The winning numbers were 8, 9, 23, 29 and 62, and the Powerball number was 13. The Power Play® multiplier was 2.

Melva purchased the winning ticket as part of her usual lottery-playing routine. The Pine Bluff woman has reused the same winning numbers for years, always buying one ticket for ten plays and renewing each ticket at the same retailer.

“Every number is significant to me,” Melva shared with lottery officials.

The winning numbers, a combination of Melva and her mother’s birthdays, would soon prove especially lucky. The Pine Bluff woman scanned her ticket and, to her surprise, was told to visit the ASL Claim Center in Little Rock.

Melva had matched four out of five winning numbers, plus the Powerball number, to win $50,000. Because she selected the Power Play multiplier, her prize was doubled to $100,000.

Excited, the winner first shared the good news with her sister.

“She is over the moon,” Melva said. “She’s so happy for me.”

The winner hopes to “breathe easier” with her prize.

“I’ve got a little cushion under me now,” Melva said.

A winning Natural State Jackpot ticket worth $480,000 was sold at Circle K Store #2709968 on 21 Highway 64 W. in Beebe for the August 28 drawing. The winning numbers were 5, 9, 11, 16 and 20. The winner has 180 days from the draw date to claim their prize.

The Natural State Jackpot has reset to $50,000 for tonight’s drawing.
