March Brings Lottery Luck to Arkansans

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.

Several Arkansans won big playing lottery games last week.

Atkins resident Marilyn Freeman won $300,000 playing the $10 Big X instant game. She claimed her prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center on March 8.

The winning ticket was sold at Casey’s General Store #3345 on 906 N. Church St.

Marilyn plays the lottery weekly and stopped by Casey’s, one of her favorite lottery retailers, to buy several tickets between $5 and $20. Among these tickets was the winning Big X ticket. She scratched her ticket while inside the store, then handed it to the clerk to scan.

“You’ll have to go to Little Rock,” the clerk told her.

Overjoyed, Marilyn shared the news with her mother and brother, then rushed to the claim center the following morning.

Though the Atkins resident plays the lottery frequently and has won some smaller prizes, the $300,000 top prize marks a new personal best.

“Once in a while, you might win $500 or so, but nothing like this,” Marilyn said.

With her winnings, Marilyn hopes to pay off her home and buy a used car. Beyond that, she wants to “just live” and is open to traveling the United States.

Another winner, Audrey R. of Marked Tree, won $250,000 playing the $10 instant game 100X the Win. She claimed her prize on March 6.

The winning ticket was sold at Elm Street Liquor on 230 Elm Street in Marked Tree.

Audrey, a weekly lottery player with a preference for scratch-offs, purchased the winning ticket during a trip to the liquor store. She discovered her $250,000 win at home, where the very last row of her ticket revealed that she had won the top prize.

“I was hollering to my grand baby,” Audrey said. According to her granddaughter, the Marked Tree resident “[ran] through the house” out of excitement.

Feeling “very blessed,” Audrey intends to buy a new home with her winnings. She also says she will “absolutely” continue playing lottery games, planning to make a $20 ticket her next purchase.

There are two top prizes remaining on the 100X the Win instant game.

Alma resident Katherine F. also won a $200,000 prize playing the $10 Rose Gold instant game. She claimed her prize on March 7. She purchased her ticket at Kum & Go #385 on 2720 Alma Highway in Van Buren. Two top prizes remain for the Rose Gold ticket.

Another Arkansan, Judy Thompson of Cabot, won a $75,000 lottery prize playing the $3 Extra! Extra! Crossword instant game. She claimed her prize on March 6. With her prize, Judy plans to buy a certificate of deposit, give some to friends and family and spend some on leisure.

For the week of March 4-8, 78 Arkansans won lottery prizes.
