Powerball Jackpot Now Second-Largest in U.S History
The Powerball® jackpot is estimated at $1.73 billion for tonight’s drawing. Final ticket sales will determine whether the Powerball jackpot exceeds its estimate at the time of the drawing tonight.
“This is a huge night for Arkansas Powerball players,” said Eric Hagler, Arkansas Scholarship Lottery executive director. “With every ticket purchased, the jackpot grows larger, and so are the funds being raised for Arkansas college students.”
Jackpot winners may choose to receive their prize as an annuity, paid in 30 graduated payments over 29 years, or a lump sum payment estimated at $756.6 million. Both prize options are before taxes.
The prize ranks as the second-largest Powerball jackpot and U.S. lottery jackpot, only behind the world record $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot won in California on Nov. 7, 2022.
Tonight’s drawing will be the 36th in the jackpot run and the first time in Powerball history that back-to-back jackpot cycles have generated billion-dollar grand prizes. The Powerball jackpot was previously won in California on July 19, when a ticket matched all five white balls and the red Powerball to win a prize worth $1.08 billion.
Powerball tickets are $2 per play and can be purchased at any lottery retailer or on the Jackpocket app. A player can also add Power Play®, which multiplies any non-jackpot prizes won with an additional $1. Both winning and non-winning tickets are eligible to enter in The Club for Points for Prizes®.
